Terms of Use

1. 01

   Who can use the Service

   You must be at least 16 years old and able to enter into a binding agreement. You may only connect mailboxes you own or are authorized to manage. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you have authority to bind it to these terms.

2. 02

   Your account

   Keep your password private and your email address current. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at hello@inboxscrub.com if you think someone else has used it. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, and you may delete your account at any time from the settings screen.

3. 03

   The waitlist

   Joining the waitlist gives us permission to send one email when an invitation is available. A place on the waitlist does not guarantee access, and invitations may go out in any order. You can leave the waitlist by writing to hello@inboxscrub.com.

4. 04

   Connecting a mailbox

   When you connect a mailbox, you authorize Inbox Scrub to read message metadata and, when you choose an action, to move messages to Trash and to send unsubscribe requests on your behalf. What is read and kept is described in the Privacy Policy.

   Your mailbox provider’s own terms continue to apply. If your provider limits or revokes access, the affected features stop working until access is restored.

   Acceptable use

   You agree not to:

   • connect a mailbox you are not authorized to manage
   • use the Service to harass anyone or to send unsolicited mail
   • probe, scan, or overload the Service, or try to get around its limits
   • copy, resell, or build a competing service from the Service or its output
   • reverse engineer the Service except where the law allows it

   Actions on your mailbox are yours

   Inbox Scrub shows numbers and suggestions. Every delete and every unsubscribe is started by you, and the confirmation screen restates the sender and the count before anything happens. Deleted messages go to Trash, where your provider keeps them for its normal retention period (thirty days for Gmail), and can be restored from there during that time.

   Once Trash empties, messages are gone from the provider and Inbox Scrub cannot recover them. Check the protected list and the sender before you confirm. Inbox Scrub is not responsible for messages you chose to delete.

   Pricing

   During the beta the Service is free. We intend to keep the audit free and to charge a monthly fee for cleanup features after launch. Paid features, prices, and refund terms will be set out in the app and in an update to these terms before any charge is made. Nothing is billed without your explicit sign-up to a paid plan.

8. 08

   Ownership

   Your mailbox and its contents remain yours. Inbox Scrub owns the Service, its design, its scoring methods, and its software. You get a personal, non-transferable licence to use the Service under these terms; nothing else is granted. Feedback you send may be used to improve the Service without obligation to you.

   Availability and changes

   The Service may be changed, paused, or withdrawn at any time, especially during the beta. We try to give notice for changes that affect connected mailboxes. Features may be added, changed, or removed, and mailbox providers beyond Gmail may be supported later or not at all.

    Disclaimer of warranties

    The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Sender scores, storage figures, and energy estimates are estimates derived from metadata and may be inaccurate. Unsubscribe requests depend on the sender honouring them.

    Limitation of liability

    To the fullest extent the law allows, Inbox Scrub is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Inbox Scrub’s total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for the Service in the twelve months before the claim and fifty US dollars. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, in which case they apply only as far as permitted.

    Indemnity

    You agree to defend and hold Inbox Scrub harmless from claims and costs, including reasonable legal fees, that arise from your breach of these terms or your use of a mailbox you were not authorized to manage.

13. 13

    Ending the agreement

    You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We can suspend or end your access if you break these terms or if the Service is withdrawn. On termination your connected mailboxes are disconnected and your audit data is deleted as described in the Privacy Policy. Sections 6 and 8 through 14 survive termination.

14. 14

    Governing law and disputes

    These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state in which Inbox Scrub is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before bringing a formal claim, write to hello@inboxscrub.com and give us thirty days to try to resolve it. Any dispute that cannot be resolved that way is brought in the courts of that state.

    Changes to these terms

    This is the first version. When the terms change in a way that matters, the effective date at the top is updated and account holders receive an email before the change takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after that date means you accept the new terms.
